IOC is the largest manufacturer of iron ore pellets in Canada and its customer base covers North American, European and Asian steel producers. The Company operates a mine, concentrator and a pelletizing plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities located in Sept-Ξles (Quebec). It also operates a 418 kilometers railroad that links the mine to the port. IOC has approximately 1900 employees and its major shareholder and operator is the international mining group Rio Tinto, which has activities in more than 40 countries throughout the world.

Reporting to the General Manager Expansion Projects, the Site Manager will be accountable for ensuring site de-construction works are carried out safely, within budget, and according to plan; without breaching environmental regulations and with minimal impact on the Sept-Iles Terminal operations.

The Site Manager will be accountable for, but not limited to the following:

• Ensuring that projects are delivered within the contract requirements of the asset sales and demolition contract, quality and safety, and performance expectations set out in the contract.

• Managing, coordinating and administering the project from the demolition contract award to the contract close-out.

• Support Risk Analysis and ensure that any feedback is incorporated in the de-construction methods.

• Work with the contractor's team to monitor sales and de-construction progress and manage all changes through a project Change Management system.

• Ensure that systems are in place and reviewed to deliver regulatory compliance regarding safe work practice for the de-construction activity

• Monitor the timeliness of key equipment and scrap sales as required by the project schedule.
• Maintain communication with IOC management and issue monthly progress reports.
• Oversee the HSE program. Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.







Located in Sept - Iles, the successful applicant must hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Engineering degree with 15 years of proven experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment. Experience with continuous improvement techniques such as LEAN or SIX SIGMA would be desirable. The successful candidate will need to be bilingual.
