This is a leading independent Oil and Gas company with a plethora of interests within the global markets. The company has a wealth of history in exploration and acquisitions throughout the world. With a strong asset base the company is looking to commence a period of growth and is seeking to recruit a Principal/Senior standard Geologist to compliment its experienced and qualified global team.
This role will give seasoned Geologists excellent opportunities to maintain and build on his/her skill set and is a pivotal role within a small dynamic team with close links to other offices internationally. This organisation focuses on developing new ways in which to increase the asset base and further its presence. This company would be interested in hearing from self sufficient individuals who are keen to progress their career. The role would be best suited to those with previous North Sea experience.
This exciting and demanding role would see the ideal candidate involved in a multitude of tasks, which include managing the company's interests in their UK market in relation to work programs, licences and new business markets. You will be tasked with the management of existing relationships, whilst developing the company's new business interests in the region. Key elements of the role will include:
- Undertake and manage relationships (e.g. JVs), work programs, regional and license evaluations and new venture business - Present regional and prospect specific reviews and recommendations to board members. - Originate creative new venture ideas and analyses to identify new plays and opportunities. - Mentor and manage junior staff in the office to aid their career progression. - Provide a strong geological influence on the exploration team.
Strong technical skills alongside good commercial acumen are of paramount importance to this role.
The candidate should be in possession of a strong Geology relevant qualification, ideally to Masters level. This should be combined with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of Geology in the UKCS and/or Norwegian shelf. Key skills sought include:
- Full understanding of petroleum system analysis. - Project management skills and good influencing skills. - Knowledge of sedimentology, sequence strat, wellsite operations, volumetrics, and risking. Broad based knowledge of log analysis, geochemistry, and economics. - Participation in UK or Norwegian license rounds a distinct advantage. - Kingdom Suite software skills or other transportable UNIX based geological interpretation packages useful. Working knowledge of GIS packages an advantage. - Good presentation / communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have effective and highly developed communication skills and have the ability to work as part of a team.
