Our Elkview Operations has a current opening for an:
Environmental Officer
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Officer, the Environmental Officer is responsible for helping to maintain and continually improve the integrity of an environmental management system.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to maintaining an environmental management system conformant with Teck EHS Management Standards and ISO 14001
Coordinate the preparation of environmental assessments through to the issuance of approvals and permits
Interface with federal and provincial government regulators and members of the public
Participate in and coordinate extensive environmental monitoring programs (reclamation, wildlife, vegetation, soils, air, water, GHG/NPRI)
Coordinate waste management and contaminated site remediation
Prepare regulatory reports required under permits and submit to the appropriate government agency
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Biological Sciences or related industry discipline
2 years or more experience in the mining industry
Sound working knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines:
Waste management and contaminated site remediation
Surface water quality management
GHG/NPRI reporting requirements and regulations
Environmental impact assessments, provincial and federal permitting processes and regulatory requirements
